Vandalia vs. Alamance at Home

Vandalia JV Boys
A Tale of Two Halves

The week-long Thanksgiving lay-off took its toll against the JV Boys Tuesday night in a 49-37 loss to Alamance. The boys found themselves down by 17 at the half. They fought hard in the second half but it wasn’t enough. Coach Feaster’s only comments were, “What do you say? We stunk the first half! We came out and acted like beating Gospel Light last week was going to scare everyone else in the league. One good thing that came out of this game is that we fought hard during the second half. Hopefully we will take these next few practices, work hard, and be ready to play the next time.”
Final Score: ACS 49, VCS 37

What a Game!!!
With 1.4 seconds on the clock, sophomore Glenn Zimmerman drained an eighteen foot jump shot to tie the game at 55. In a last second effort to win the game, Alamance threw the ball deep but it was picked off by Stevie Thompson, who was fouled with 0.7 seconds left. Afterwards, when asked about going to the line in that situation Stevie commented, “I’ve never been so scared in my life!” That fear, however, did not show as Stevie sank both shots to seal the deal on the Vikings 1st win of the season and the first win over Alamance in 2 years. “It feels great”, said a grinning Coach Feaster. “This is definitely a big win for us, but at the same time it’s just a win. I told the guys to enjoy the victory tonight, but tomorrow is a new day and it’s back to work.”
Final Score: VCS 57, ACS 55
