Viking Blow Lead, Lose a Heartbreaker
SBCS 51, VCS 50
For the first three minutes of the game the Vikings were sleepwalking and found themselves down 10-0. Then just like that Stevie Thompson scored the Vikings first basket and the flood gates opened as the Vikings went on a 27-2 run, to finish the half with a 27-18 lead. “We gave up a few easy baskets there at the end” said Coach Feaster, “but I think if we can keep up the pressure on defense, keep knocking down some shots, and continue rebounding well, we should be in good shape.” Unfortunately, the Vikings failed in all three areas and found themselves down 51-48 with 9 seconds left. “Tyler and Ryan had been knocking down the three’s all night. With Ryan fouled out I knew Tyler would have to be the one to go to. We drew up the play for Tyler with Chris as our second option. They took Tyler away, we got the ball to Chris and he just missed. What can I say? It’s becoming a theme for our season.” With the loss the Vikings fall to last place in the conference with big games against Alamance and Faith next week.

Vikings Fall Apart in 4th
SBCS 54, VCS 34

Without leading scorer John Grant, the Vikings were looking for someone to step up. That someone was actually a tandem of John White and Wes Huddle who combined for 20 points and helped the Vikings cut the lead to 5 at 37-32 going into the 4th. Unfortunately, that’s where things ended for the duo and the entire Vikings team. Other than the 2 points that Justin Treadway got from a lay-up with 2 minutes left in the game, no one else scored.
